Community-wide Reading of "Wonder"

Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 PM

in the Crossett Brook Middle School Library

More than 100 Vermont communities are taking part in the Vermont Humanities sponsored, statewide, one-book community reading of " Wonder", R.J. Palacio's bestselling, inspiring story about the power, and the importance, of kindness - in everyone's life.

It's the story of fifth-grader Auggie Pullman who was born with a facial congenital birth defect. "Wonder" traces Auggie's journey through his first year in middle school, where he experiences the challenges of being shunned - and the satisfactions of belonging-in a world  where differences can both set us apart and bring us together.

We hope you can join us in discovering with others the power of reading, and reflecting on the ways we can choose kindness and inclusion in our communities. We will team up with Crosset Brook and Harwood Union Middle Schools in reading and discussing the book, and the importance of kindness and inclusion in our community AND world-wide, on Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 PM in the CBMS library. The evening promises to be thought provoking AND fun, with other activities being planned.

The Waterbury Public Library has a limited number of copies of "Wonder" at our circulation desk. Please feel free to come and sign-out a copy - you don't need your library card to do so. We want as many people as possible to share this event with us! Light refreshments will also be provided.

By the way, "Wonder" was the winner of the 2014 Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award!

Wednesday, October 29, from 3- 4 PM:
